No Nigerian Infected With Ebola Virus - Health Ministry

Nigerians have been advised to be calm and not panic over the reported case of Ebola Virus in Lagos State, with an assurance that no Nigerian is infected with the virus.

Eight months old Xiao Bao was stabbed 90 times in the face with scissors by his mother for biting her while she was breastfeeding him. The incident that has left many people shocked happened in Xuzhou, in the eastern China Jiangsu province. After the attack, the mother disappeared leaving the infant in a pool of his blood in the yard of their home. Xiao was found by his uncle who rushed him to the hospital. The baby needed more than 100 stitches. The mother, who has since been arrested, is not known to be suffering any kind of mental illness.

Nigerian ambassador, 3 ECOWAS staff, 55 others had contact with Lagos Ebola victim

59 people including the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi Nnadozie are said to have had direct and indirect contact with the late Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, who died on Friday July 25th from the Ebola Virus in Lagos. 

At a Joint Ministerial Press briefing of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Health on development concerning the disease yesterday July 28th, the state Commissioner of Health, Dr Jide Idris said out of the 59 people who had contact with the late Patrick Sawyer, 44 were hospital contacts (38 healthcare workers & 6 laboratory staff) and 15 Airport contacts comprising 3 ECOWAS staff-driver, Liaison, and Protocol officers, Nigerian Ambassador to Monrovia, two nursing staff and five Airport passenger handlers. We have insiders in commercial banks' suspected fraudsters confess

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected fraudsters identified as Kola Osho, Oyedepo Adesola and Kola Ademola, who allegedly specialize in withdrawing money from people’s bank accounts using dud cheques. 

 

According to Punch, the police said the suspects usually obtained the cheques from people who are experts in stealing cheque books from unsuspecting people, then they will present the cheques to their insider in the bank, who will dubiously verify the account holder and the signature before the money could be paid out. Bricklayer Dies While Testing Buller-Proof Charm

Pandemonium broke out in the Asipa community as an apprentice bricklayer, identified as Rasheed Sulaiman, was shot dead while testing the potency of a bullet-proof charm given to him by a herbalist.

A resident of Asipa, a community in the Ife North Local Government Area, told PUNCH Metro that Sulaiman, on Saturday called his cousin, Siji, to follow him to a secluded place to test the charm. Sulaiman wore the amulet and gave a gun to his cousin to fire at him. The cousin fired the shot and killed Sulaiman instantly.
