Fear of Boko Haram: Adamawa State University shutdown

The fear of insurgents has led to the closure of Adamawa State University at Mubi.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Institution’s Acting Registrar, Malam Hassan Tanko, students were directed to return home, as the university was closed indefinitely for security reasons.
Students were left stranded, as they couldn’t find any form of transportation
One of the students identified as Ali said many commuters were now stranded in the commercial border town due to lack of vehicle.

This Ibadan man sees nothing wrong with having sex with a 14-year-old (PICTURED)

Adeyemi Dairo, 27, a cobbler living in Ibadan,Oyo state has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Reports say Dairo, an indigene of Eruwa town in Oyo, forcefully had sex with the victim (names withheld) at his shoe repair shop on August 21, 2014.

The suspect, however, claims the rape allegations are false describing the young girl as his girlfriend.

According to Tribune reports, Dairo asked the victim to help him take a bench to his room. As a mark of respect, the girl did as the cobbler requested but her decision was at a cost as she lost her virginity. Crime Reports learnt that the suspect allegedly followed the girl into the room, tied a cloth across her mouth to prevent her from shouting and tore her underwear before having his way.

He later threatened to organize a gang rape if the victims dares to tell anyone about what happened. The girl was said to have complied until her mother noticed her awkward movement few days after. She confessed to her mother and the case was reported immediately at the Eleyele Police Station.

Leader of terrorist group al-Shabaab killed in U.S airstrike in Somalia

The Somali prime minister said on Friday that Ahmed Godane, head of the Islamist militant group al Shabaab, was killed in a U.S. strike on Monday, although the group that is waging an insurgency against the government has yet to comment.

U.S. officials had said on Wednesday that they were still checking to see whether Monday's U.S. missile strike on an al Shabaab encampment had killed Godane, who was appointed leader in 2008 after his predecessor was killed in a U.S. attack.

Boko Haram Plan To Capture Maiduguri, Send Warning Letters

The military and non-military staff of two main barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State, were thrown into confusion following a daredevil threat by Boko Haram Islamist sect.
According SaharaReporters, unknown people dropped letters by the main gates of Maimalari and Giwa military barracks, as well as in some other areas of the city. The papers contained a clear threat of a massive attack on the capital of the state.
The military men took these messages seriously, started evacuation of families and non-military staff residing there.
“Soldiers are moving their wives and children out because they should not be there if a battle begins,” a security source said.
The source informed the newsmen that the first batch of letters appeared on September 4, 2014. An unconfirmed number of soldiers had allegedly deserted from service upon seeing such papers. However, Defence Headquarters officials in Abuja denied to give any comments on this development when the reporters attempted to get a confirmation.
