It’s another sad Nollywood
story, but this has nothing to do with movie scripts or screenplays;
another Nigerian actor is on the brink of losing her life if something
is not done urgently.
Ngozi Nwosu’s deteriorating health has been in the news for several months.
Although the exact nature of her illness is unknown, merely looking at her is enough to see that something major has gone wrong.
The actress’ sickness has been tied to a lingering kidney problem.
Those close to her say she’s been in and
out of different hospitals, and they’re now rallying round, hoping to
raise funds needed for treatment. They’re trying to make sure her story
doesn’t end like that of fellow actors James ‘Giringory’ Iroha and
Enebeli Elebuwa, both of whom passed away in 2012.
Nwosu, we hear, needs N6m to undergo a medical procedure to restore her health.
With the help of friends, she got N1m after participating in ‘Who Deserves to be a Millionaire’, a spin-off of the popular ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ TV game show.
A ‘Save Ngozi Nwosu’ campaign was
immediately kicked soon off after she ‘won’ the money, and according to
her reps, she has received another N1m from well-wishers and friends.
Nwosu, a native of Arochukwu in Abia State, has over 50 movie credits under her belt.
She reportedly started acting as part of
the dramatic society in her school. She landed her first movie role in
the 1992 Nollywood classic ‘Living in Bondage’ where she played ‘Ego.’
She also played the role of ‘Madam V-Boot’ in the 90’s soap opera
‘Ripples’
Nwosu was previously married to a
Beninoise, from Cotonou, Benin Republic, but they parted ways,
reportedly due to irreconcilable differences.
