The CAN ex-president Peter Akinola and his driver, who were kidnapped by gunmen in Ogun state, have been rescued by the police.
A senior government official in Ogun state, who asked not to be named, has told Premium Times that Akinola has been rescued by a security team led by the Ogun state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
"When the governor heard of the incident, he personally led his security team on a patrol of the area. The gunmen were tracked down, and they abandoned the primate and his car. They were cornered at Ijoga Orile in Ogun West. The primate is on his way home now," the official disclosed.It is not known, however, if the gunmen have been arrested.
When asked whether Akinola’s driver was rescued too, the official said he did not know yet but was
awaiting further information.
