Sudanese
authorities are to free a woman who was sentenced to death for having
abandoned the Islamic faith, a foreign ministry official says.
Meriam Ibrahim, who gave birth to a daughter in custody, will be freed in a few days, the official told the BBC.Abdullahi Alzareg, an under-secretary at the foreign ministry, said Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting the woman.
Khartoum has been facing international condemnation over the death sentence.

Former Oyo State governor's son, Adebola Ladoja dies in auto crash
Adebola Ladoja,Son of former Governor of Oyo State, Rasheed Ladoja,
lost his life on Thursday in a ghastly accident on the Eko Bridge,Lagos.
He was driving a Golf saloon car and was said to be on his way to Lagos
Island when a Daf truck rammed into his car. The driver of the truck was
said to be on top speed, and lost control of his vehicle, ramming into
the median of the bridge, before crashing into the deceased’s car.
An eye witness said “It took several hours before the victim could be rescued from the wreckage of the vehicle. He was trapped behind the wheels with blood gushing out of his head.”

How Bricklayer Killed 12-Year Old Relative (Warning: Graphic Content)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Mr. Paul Obiefule, for allegedly beating his 12-year-old relative to death.
The
relative, who was identified as Onyedikachi Mbanozo, was staying with
Obiefule, a bricklayer, and his wife on Omitola Street in the Agege area
of Lagos.
Punch Metro learnt that Onyedika, as the boy was fondly called, was the son of Obiefule’s wife’s brother.
It
was further gathered that the boy was beaten to death on Monday evening
around 8.30pm, while the neighbours reported the matter at the Pen
Cinema Police Division on Tuesday.
It was
said that Onyedika, who was attending Irewole Primary School in Agege,
could not go to school for several weeks before his death as a result of
a sickness sustained from series of beatings.

‘I Go Die’ Arrested For Robbery In Delta
A man nicknamed ‘I Go Die’ (not the popular comedian, Francis Agoda, ‘I Go Dye’) has been arrested in Delta State by the police for an alleged robbery and kidnapping.
‘I Go Die’, whose real name is Oghenewerute Efeyeme, was nabbed alongside his alleged accomplices; Oghenetaga Onome and Voke Erhiaware, popularly known as Simple.
They were apprehended on Monday while trying to collect some amount of money from the victim, who they allegedly threatened to kidnap if he fails to part with some cash.
